JetBrains sees AI spend rise tenfold
JetBrains says its development AI expenses rose roughly 10x in six months, with most developers using three to five tools per month and usage nearly doubling monthly after January. It responded with Central CLI, which routes supported third-party agents through a shared layer so managers can set token-credit limits by developer, team, or group; more than 1,000 developers adopted it within weeks. The lesson for engineering leaders is architectural, not austerity: instrument the traffic path before capping the tools, much as agent teams need a control plane for autonomous work.
