Smallest.ai raises $13M for asynchronous voice AI
Smallest.ai raised a $13 million Series A, taking total funding above $21 million, and introduced an asynchronous speech-to-speech model called Hydra. The company’s announcement says Hydra processes listening, reasoning, action, and response in parallel rather than chaining each stage sequentially. For teams following the shift from screens toward audio-first AI interfaces, the fact to file is architectural: voice latency may increasingly be won by overlapping the pipeline, not merely shrinking each model inside it.
