Apple links heavier AI use to iCloud upgrades
Apple reported $30.74 billion in quarterly services revenue, and CEO Tim Cook said heavier Apple Intelligence use will get “upgrade possibilities” through iCloud Plus, where customers can “buy up the stack.” Apple’s Q3 statements put the exact services figure behind a cloud-metering turn that complicates the case that Apple’s AI endgame lives mainly on-device. Builders shipping into Siri should treat today’s included inference allowance as a launch subsidy, not a durable unit-economics assumption, until Apple publishes tier prices and usage limits.
