Paducah lines up a $100B AI campus

Brookfield and NextEra Energy plan to turn the Energy Department’s Paducah site into a more than $100 billion AI campus, pairing 1.8 GW of computing capacity with 2 GW of gas generation and as much as 2.6 GW of battery storage. The Energy Department’s partnership announcement says the privately funded project should create about 8,000 construction jobs and 600 permanent jobs, with completion expected in 2031. For operators tracking the buildout behind AMD’s $14 billion capacity deal, Paducah is another sign that viable AI campuses are being sold as integrated power systems rather than parcels of server-ready land.
